About the position The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting Covered's financial health through accurate record-keeping and analysis. This role involves managing general ledger activities, preparing financial statements, assisting with audits, and providing insights for strategic financial decision-making. Additionally, the Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll and ensuring compliance with payroll regulations. This role is crucial in handling compensation, tax filings, and benefits-related deductions. Responsibilities β’ Perform monthly close tasks including financial analysis, ensuring completion of checklists, reconciliations, and participate in external audits , β’ Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time for all employees , β’ Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness , β’ Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure proper documentation , β’ Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports , β’ Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes , β’ Review vendor invoices and post daily to accounts payable. Ability to investigate and resolve problems associated with processing invoices , β’ Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning , β’ Ensure compliance with GAAP, and internal policies , β’ Prepare and file tax reports, including corporate, sales, and payroll taxes , β’ Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy , β’ Provide financial analysis and insights to support management in decision-making , β’ Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations Requirements β’ Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred) , β’ Experience: 7+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment , β’ Experience in InsurTech or FinTech industry is preferred , β’ Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting , β’ Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel , β’ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills , β’ Strong attention to detail and accuracy , β’ Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under deadlines , β’ Strong communication and interpersonal skills , β’ Knowledge of internal controls and risk management (preferred) Nice-to-haves undefined Benefits β’ Culture: work with passionate, innovative professionals who love what they do.
