Freelance Lead Animator (Web and Motion)
Project-Based Ongoing Work
We are looking for a freelance Lead Animator to work with us on a project-by-project basis. This is not a full-time role, but we are looking for a long-term partner.
The last animator we worked with was with us for several years. Our goal is to build a similar long-term relationship. The person we hire will be our go-to animator, and any animation project that comes through our agency will be directed to them.
We are looking for someone who can both lead and execute. You should be comfortable handling projects yourself and managing additional animators when needed.
Responsibilities
- - Lead web animation and motion design strategy
- - Oversee animated video production including explainers, promos, and ads
- - Manage and collaborate with 2D, 3D, and motion designers when required
- - Own animation projects from concept through final delivery
Required Experience
Web Animation and Development
- - Strong knowledge of CSS3 animations and transitions
- - Experience with GSAP
- - Experience with Framer Motion
- - Experience with Lottie animations including JSON export workflow
- - Understanding of SVG animations
- - Experience working with HTML5 Canvas
- - Understanding of WebGL
- - Understanding of Rive
Motion and Video Production
- - End-to-end animated video production from concept to storyboard to final render
- - Advanced knowledge of Adobe After Effects, including Lottie workflows
- - Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- - Figma including Smart Animate and prototyping
- - Blender or Cinema 4D for basic 3D web animations preferred
