We are seeking an entry-level Structural Engineer with an interest in pursuing the design of commercial, institutional, and industrial structures for our Newport Beach office. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, have a desire to work and grow with a multidiscipline engineering team, and be willing to have fun.
- Responsibilities
- Work semi-independently.
- Assist in managing CAD and production efforts.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
- Perform structural analysis and design of structural members such as beams, columns, walls, joists, and foundations.
- Develop structural models that mathematically define and idealize the actual structure being designed.
- Use approved codes and standards to define structural demands on buildings due to wind and seismic loadings.
- Analyze and design connections of the various structural elements in a building structure.
- Perform analysis needed to evaluate seismic risk in existing buildings using approved structural codes and standards.
- Requirements
- A four-year degree in Structural Engineering or a related field
- Experience with computer analysis software systems
- Excellent leadership, supervisory, and writing and verbal communication skills
- Being comfortable consulting to architectural practices
- Working as part of a multi-discipline design team
- Able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment (or demonstrate ability to develop such abilities).
- Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities (or demonstrate ability to develop such abilities).
- Able to maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel preferred.
- Able to work independently as well as on teams.
- Positive contributor to overall office and department goals, culture, and morale.
- Nice-to-haves
- Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering (preferred)
- Internship in the structural design of buildings or similar structures (preferred)
