About the position
The Budget Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the financial and
administrative operations of a complex academic program. Working under the
direction of the Program Director, this position coordinates a wide range of
budgetary and operational activities that support faculty, staff, and students.
From managing purchasing and tracking expenditures to coordinating travel,
events, and multi-funding sources, the role ensures that resources are
effectively managed and aligned with program goals. This is an excellent

- Responsibilities
- Support and monitor the schoolβs operational budget, tracking expenditures across multiple funding sources.
- Coordinate purchasing and requisitioning of supplies, services, equipment, travel, and service-learning agreements in compliance with universitypolicies.
- Assist with administrative and operational needs including facilities requests, telecom coordination, room scheduling, and event logistics.
- Provide support for faculty recruitment efforts, student assistants, and related administrative processes.
- Maintain accurate financial and administrative records, reports, and communications to ensure transparency and efficiency.
- Requirements
- Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understandand operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbentsare expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, andpunctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Somepositions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basicarithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technologysystems and software packages is also a prerequisite.
- These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several yearsof related office work experience.
- Experience in requisitioning and purchasing supplies, services and equipment.
- Experience with standard purchasing policy and procedures and/or accounts payable.
- Demonstrated experience tracking complex expenditure budgets.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students and external community partners.
- Nice-to-haves
- Experience at CSU or other academic environments is preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience with purchasing and budget tracking is preferred.
- Experience in travel coordination and execution is preferred.
