Job Description

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. GoodParty.org is using AI to transform democracy by empowering Independent candidates to run for office. They are seeking a Software Development Engineer to assist in the design and implementation of AI applications and enhance existing open-source products.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design implementation of human-in-the-loop AI applications that leverage large language models (LLMs), vector databases, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques
  • Build your skills with React, NextJS, DataBricks, Python, and Postgres to enhance our existing open-source products on AWS
  • Rapidly learn new domains and apply AI and machine learning methods to enhance campaign and civic technology products
  • Conduct structured experimentation to diagnose problems, validate solutions, and communicate findings effectively
  • Evaluate emerging AI frameworks and tools (including MCP and agentic systems) for integration into production environments
  • Initially reports to the CTO

Skills

  • 1-3 years of experience in software development
  • Strong technical training in computer science or engineering
  • Demonstrated passion for LLM integration in web, mobile, and backend systems
  • Experience with prompt engineering, RAG workflows, and agentic AI systems
  • Practical experience as an intern or junior engineer using scrum and github
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure
  • Commitment to responsible and ethical AI development
  • Awareness of model limitations, bias, and performance considerations
  • Effective collaboration skills to work cross-functionally
  • Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience building or scaling AI functions in prior roles
  • Experience as a full stack developer with React, NextJS, DataBricks, Python, and Postgres
  • Demonstrated domain expertise by achievement of a relevant secondary degree
  • Prior experience as a contributor to an open-source project
  • Experience studying, working, or volunteering in politics, civics, or democracy reform
