Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Aurora is dedicated to advancing self-driving technology to create a safer and more efficient transportation ecosystem. They are seeking a Remote Assist Specialist to monitor and test autonomous vehicles, providing critical feedback and identifying root causes of issues to enhance product development.
Responsibilities
- Maintain up to date knowledge of how our self-driving technology works
- Emulate Commercial Ops roles during new feature testing through a variety of application testing (Aurora App, Terminal App, Inspector App, etc)
- Safely send remote commands to autonomous vehicles for on-road and closed-course testing, adhering to safety anchors
- Respond to and resolve a variety of trigger requests from autonomous vehicles with composure and technical logic
- Log real-time, high-fidelity feedback regarding autonomy and platform performance
- Move beyond reporting symptoms to identifying patterns and root causes for engineering teams
- Escalate operational blockers with suggested solutions, utilizing our established standards to make safe calls when faced with unknown variables
- Actively 'storm search' during testing to identify areas where testing workflows and SOPs can be improved, hardened, or refined
- Triage remote assist workflows and on-road events that are key to performance metrics and compliance
- Interact with the public and stakeholders as a professional representative for Auroraβs mission
Skills
- Ability to constantly focus on a laptop monitoring proprietary tooling to aid autonomous vehicle operations
- A mindset that views a system 'failure' or a bug as a successful data point that makes the fleet safer
- Keen attention to detail with the ability to spot subtle anomalies in telemetry that others might miss
- Ability to prioritize and make strategic, 'best-path' decisions proactively in high-pressure situations
- Ability to remain unfazed by rapid pivots; you thrive in environments where 'the plan' evolves based on real-time data
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to provide clear, actionable feedback to cross functional stakeholders
- Valid U.S. driver's license (5+ years history), clean driving record, and ability to pass drug/alcohol screenings
- 100% in-office. Available to work rotating shifts (early mornings, late nights, or weekends) with 2 week notice, and regular overtime as needed
- Interest in technology tools, apps, gaming, flight simulators, or command-line interfaces that require high spatial awareness and multi-tasking
- Proficient in G-Suite and capable of learning new, proprietary software applications rapidly
- Experience working in a 'Win Together' environment where team success is the priority
