Job Description
PayPal has been revolutionizing commerce globally for more than 25 years, and they are seeking an Android Mobile Engineer to help design, develop, and test the PayPal Android Consumer App. The role involves collaborating with teams to build, test, and iterate on solutions for customers while ensuring code quality and adherence to standards.
Responsibilities
- Implements tasks within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), receiving structure and oversight from more experienced staff
- Follows well-established internal conventions and standard procedures
- Understands internal standards & processes and applies them to make technical decisions
- Collaborates with peers, manager, and project lead to gain understanding of tasks and review solutions
- May contribute to code & design reviews
- Contributes to native Android app development by converting ideas, designs, and requirements into concrete, stable production builds
- Participates in design and solutioning for specific use cases that provide frameworks, interfaces, and services that can be extended and reused for future requirements
- Works with product, project, and engineering teams to deliver products on schedule that solve our customersβ problems
- Collaborates with Engineering and QA to resolve bugs
- Develops and communicates technical processes, standards, and best practices to the team
Skills
- 1+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2+ years of Android development experience (or Master's with 1+ years of Android experience)
- Knowledge of multi-threaded, asynchronous code
- Experience with animation, and implementing user interface designs
- Knowledge of design patterns like MVVM
- Skilled at writing Unit and Automation tests
- B.S. or equivalent degree in Computer Science
- Thorough understanding of the Android Studio and Gradle
- Expert understanding of the Android System APIs, Firebase Services, Android app lifecycle
- Knowledge of open-source and commercial libraries commonly used in the Android ecosystem
- Prior experience of building SDKs and distributing to clients is a plus
- Restful API Development experience is a big plus
