Job Description

AECOM is a global infrastructure consulting firm dedicated to delivering a better world. They are seeking an Entry-Level Roadway Design Engineer to support highway design teams in South Florida by collaborating with various disciplines to complete transportation projects for clients like FDOT.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, design, and implementation of transportation projects for FDOT and other clients
  • Assist with work tasks required in preparation of roadway design set of plans
  • Utilizing CADD to create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer
  • Carry out engineering analyses and prepare reports and technical specifications under the supervision of an experienced engineer
  • Work collaboratively within project teams to ensure project objectives are met within the defined scope, schedule, and budget
  • Collect and analyze data, perform field work, and undertake site inspections under the supervision of an experienced engineer
  • Attend site visits and meetings in clients’ offices
  • Maintain project records and files, contribute to the preparation of progress reports, and communicate project and task updates to team members and supervisors as needed
  • Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level member

Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • EI certification is preferred
  • Transportation related experience preferred
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Demonstrate growth potential as well as a desire to learn
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Proficient in Microstation, ORD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or other engineering software packages
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented while still being able to understand and comply with the big picture and goals of a project
  • Documents time and effort accurately
  • Interest in transportation infrastructure design
