Job Description
Intact Investment Management Inc. is a subsidiary of Intact Financial Corporation, managing over $33 billion in assets for institutional investors. As a Trader, Equities, you will optimize transaction processes, monitor capital markets, and execute transactions to support investment strategies while collaborating with various teams for continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Optimization of trading processes
- In collaboration with the team, continuously review and work on trading best practices through the use of transaction monitoring tools
- Refine the various reports in place to support decision-making
- Adjust debt securities positions and monitor them on a daily basis
- Collaborate with operations teams in the settlement of various transactions
- Ensure a constant flow of communication with members of the Trading team to ensure the best possible execution of the investment strategy concerned
- Monitor market movements and inform managers of their possible impact
- Provide information on the performance of various portfolio positions and contextualize them to support managers in their analyses
- In collaboration with the Trading team, be responsible for the trading and execution of equities on the Canadian, American and European markets
- Monitor and analyze execution performance metrics (slippage, costs, TCA) and evaluate possible solutions
- Contribute to the optimization of trading processes and tools (algorithm settings, broker preference lists, automation)
- Keep abreast of changes in market structure and rules in Canada, the U.S. and Europe, and assess their impact on day-to-day operations
- Review industry best practices (principle of best execution) and validate their applicability within the team
- Collaborate with stakeholders and propose new methods to improve the trading service offered to managers (processes, tools, automation, reporting)
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or a related field
- Up to three years of investment experience and a strong interest in capital markets and how they work
- Advanced knowledge of Excel
- Integrity, analytical rigour, problem-solving abilities, stress management skills, accountability, ability to prioritize deliverables, desire to collaborate with colleagues and partners
- No Canadian work experience is required; however, you must be eligible to work in Canada
- Bilingualism (English-French)
- Master's degree in Finance, an asset
- Have, or wish to obtain, the CFA designation
- Programming skills, an asset
- Ability to navigate and consult programs such as Bloomberg and/or Charles River, an asset
