Summary
- We are seeking a detail-oriented Post-Production Proofreader to complete a light quality-control proofread of a fully formatted book (PDF). The goal is to identify any remaining formatting or obvious grammatical errors prior to final publication.
- Deadline: March 31, 2026 (end of day)
Scope of Work
- Manuscript length: ~24.4k words
- Format: Final, fully designed interior PDF
You will review the laid-out book to ensure no issues have been overlooked in the final stage. This is a light proofread (QC pass) rather than a full editorial review.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify formatting inconsistencies (line breaks, spacing issues, widows/orphans, alignment problems)
- Catch obvious spelling and punctuation errors
- Flag missing quotation marks or incomplete sentences
- Verify correct pagination and references (figures, tables, etc.)
- Ensure overall consistency and polish in the final layout
Important:
- This proofread should focus only on clear, objective issues. Please avoid subjective or stylistic edits.
How to Submit Edits
- All edits must be logged in our provided Excel template
- Notes should be clear and searchable using Ctrl+F (find/replace)
- Reference page numbers as they appear in the book (not the PDF page count)
- For unnumbered pages, describe the location clearly (e.g., “Dedication page”)
Requirements
- Proven experience proofreading formatted book PDFs
- Strong attention to detail in formatting and typography
- Solid grasp of grammar and punctuation
- Familiarity with The Chicago Manual of Style
- Ability to provide a clear, organized error log

- Completed error log in the provided Excel template
