Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE:
Under the direction and supervision of the District Coordinator of Academic Success, professional tutors will provide one-on-one and small group tutoring to students.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Β Attend required training sessions
Β Incorporate skills learned in training to daily practice with students
Β Understand the curriculum and course requirements within their subject area, and teach in a manner to support it
Β Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring to students, incorporating:
Β Learning opportunities that address multiple learning styles
Β Practices that address affective factors such as anxiety
Β Study skills that empower the student to learn
Β Technology such as computers and tablet PCs, with related software
Β Be punctual and notify the supervisor of any delays or absences from work
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Β Students can only tutor in a course they have completed with a minimum grade of B or higher
Β Faculty Recommendation from an instructor in the subject area you are interested in tutoring in; or a professional Letter of Recommendation
Preferred:
Β Current Navarro College student
Β Tutoring experience
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Β Variances from regular working hours may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
Β Busy working environment with numerous interruptions.
Β May be required to provide tutoring services in a fully online/remote environment.
SALARY: $10.00 per hour / up to 19 hours per week
