As a Radiology Assistant, you will support fellow caregivers in providing essential treatments by reviewing x-ray requisitions, examining computer exam forms, determining the appropriate tests and transporting films to the library. Your work is critical to the ongoing care this team provides, allowing you to make a difference in the community every day.A caregiver in this position works days from 11:00AM β 7:30PM, with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Provide a wide variety of services and assistance to patients and visitors of all ages.
- Greet patients and families upon arrival at the radiology area.
- Escort patients to the appropriate room and assist patients with putting on a gown and moving on/off the table.
- Ensure physical comfort and safety of the patient at all times.
- Observe patients for medical status and potential need of nursing care, physician care, oxygen or other care and quickly obtain proper assistance.
- Review x-ray requisition and computer exam forms to determine the type of x-ray required.
- Place transport orders from radiology to floors and units.
- Process orders in the radiology information system, including scheduling, tracking exams and films.
- Process downtime and transport orders.
- Take films to the appropriate area for film library processing and deliver films to requesting areas.
- High School Diploma/GED
- One year of related experience in a physician office, hospital or clinical setting involving patient care or customer service
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time; must lift and carry items weighting up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to assist with positioning and transporting patients, i.e., pushing beds, stretchers and wheelchairs.
- Requires the ability to maneuver equipment and motor coordination to operate equipment.
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
