Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing Services Virtual Assistant (VA) to support healthcare operations specifically catering to Native Indian American care services in Arizona. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing and collections, particularly with Indian Health Service (IHS), Medicaid (AHCCCS), and other tribal healthcare billing processes. - Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately process and submit medical claims for Native Indian American care services using appropriate billing systems (e.g., IHS RPMS, AHCCCS portal).
- Verify insurance eligibility and coverage for Native American patients.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims and initiate appeals when necessary.
- Reconcile claims and payments, prepare financial reports, and update patient billing records.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all times.
- Coordinate with tribal clinics, IHS representatives, and healthcare providers to resolve billing issues.
- Respond to billing inquiries from patients or healthcare facilities in a timely and professional manner.
- Qualifications:
- Proven experience in medical billing, preferably within tribal healthcare or Indian Health Service systems.
- Familiarity with Arizona-specific Medicaid (AHCCCS) and tribal billing procedures.
- Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding systems is preferred.
- Proficiency in billing software and electronic medical records (EMRs).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Prior experience working with Native American communities is a strong plus.
