About the position
- Responsibilities
- Deliver medications to designated areas under close supervision according to detailed instructions, policies, and procedures.
- Refill and maintain automated dispensing machines.
- Price manual medication orders, inventory, and reorder stock in the pharmacy.
- Enter data into a computer system and print labels as necessary.
- Review physician's orders and enter patient medication orders into the pharmacy order entry system.
- Identify problems with orders and notify pharmacist or nursing when orders need clarification or to request patient information.
- Accurately compound IV admixtures and other assigned preparations utilizing aseptic technique and proper pharmaceutical procedures.
- Maintain stock in all assigned areas including the IV room and other pharmacy areas.
- Perform related clerical duties including typing, answering phone, filing, and greeting nurses and physicians at the Pharmacy window.
- Ensure customer service and teamwork while conducting responsibilities.
- Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Current Pharmacy Technician Certification issued by the Board of Pharmacy in the state of practice required.
- 1 year of hospital experience preferred.
- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
- Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
