About the Role:
We are looking for an AP Biology Subject Matter Expert to support our Academic Design team in defining, validating, and refining key concepts and assessments aligned with the College Board’s AP Biology curriculum framework. This role involves collaboration with instructional designers and content developers to ensure high-quality, standards-aligned educational materials for high school learners.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Concept Definition: Develop clear, accurate definitions for core AP Biology concepts, aligned with the College Board AP Biology framework and relevant K–12 science standards.
- Assessment Alignment: Identify and evaluate assessment items that effectively measure the defined biology concepts, including both content knowledge and scientific reasoning.
- Standards Mapping: Analyze the College Board framework and relevant state-level science standards, distilling them into teachable, assessable concepts.
- Collaboration: Partner closely with Academian’s Science Academic Designers to ensure scientific accuracy and pedagogical integrity across all instructional and assessment materials.
- Expert Review: Provide detailed feedback and expert review of concept definitions, assessment items, and related content to ensure educational quality and alignment with AP standards.
- Desired Outcomes:
- Well-defined and instructionally robust biology concept definitions.
- A curated set of assessment items directly aligned with AP Biology learning objectives.
- Effective collaboration with the internal content team to support a cohesive and standards-aligned curriculum.
- Qualifications:
- Demonstrated expertise in AP Biology, with a strong grasp of the College Board’s AP Science framework.
- Experience in curriculum design, instructional development, or assessment writing at the high school or undergraduate level.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to translate complex biological processes into clear, teachable components.
- Excellent written communication and collaborative skills.
- Prior experience working with educational metadata, standards mapping, or edtech platforms is a plus.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
