Positivo Biotechnology is a pioneering early-stage private company that is developing novel non-viral DNA gene delivery and expression systems to safely and effectively target various diseases including cystic fibrosis. We are seeking a skilled Protein Production Scientist Consultant to conduct laboratory studies for our non-viral gene delivery program.
Position Overview
The Protein Production Scientist Consultant will perform recombinant protein expression and purification using baculovirus and insect cell systems. This is a flexible consulting arrangement with scope and hours to be determined based on project needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Baculovirus Expression System
- Generate and amplify recombinant baculovirus stocks
- Perform transfection and infection of Sf9 or other insect cell lines
- Optimize expression conditions for target proteins
- Protein Purification
- Purify recombinant proteins using chromatography techniques (affinity, ion exchange, size exclusion)
- Perform protein analysis including SDS-PAGE, Western blot, and concentration determination
- Maintain quality control standards for purified proteins
- Cell Culture
- Maintain insect cell lines (Sf9) and/or mammalian cell lines following standard aseptic techniques
- Scale up cell culture for protein production
- Documentation
- Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and experimental records
- Prepare summary reports of experimental results
