BISO Lead (Information Security Officer) - University

TalentFish is casting a line for a Business Information Security Officer (BISO) - University. This is a Full Time role supporting a University/Academic Environment. This is a new position that is created to embed Cybersecurity strategy into daily operations while supporting a culture of security-first behaviors.
- What You Bring to the Role (Ideal Experience)
- Experience supporting Higher education, Research, or Academic Institutions
- Knowledge of FERPA, Research Data Protections, and Academic Compliance requirements
- 5-7 years of Information Security, GRC, or Security Awareness experience
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Ability to translate Cybersecurity strategy into Academic operations
- What You'll Do (Skills Used in this Position)
- Serve as the Cybersecurity liaison for University leadership, faculty, and staff
- Lead security awareness training tailored to Academic and Research environments
- Support compliance with FERPA, NIST, and institutional security policies
- Identify and mitigate Cybersecurity risks related to research, data sharing, and systems
- Embed security practices into university operations and initiatives
Compensation Information
The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 - $140,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. This role also qualifies for comprehensive benefits such as health insurance, 401(k), and paid time off. TalentFish is committed to pay transparency and equal opportunity.
