Job Description

The California Franchise Tax Board is looking for a Business Intelligence and Analytics (BIA) Developer to join their Technology Services Division. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise data integration solutions, ensuring data quality, integrity, and compliance with governance standards.


Responsibilities

  • Perform complex technical work related to the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and support of enterprise data integration solutions for FTB's enterprise data stores
  • Provide technical support for enterprise data access, reporting, and ad hoc queries
  • Analyze business and technical requirements
  • Develop and maintain data integration workflows
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, security, and compliance with enterprise architecture and data governance standards
  • Maintain expert knowledge of FTB enterprise systems, data architecture, data models, and source systems
  • Serve as a technical lead on assigned initiatives
  • Collaborate with Bureau and Technology Services Division (TSD) staff on system planning, development, testing, and implementation activities
  • Promote a professional, collaborative work environment
  • Maintain effective working relationships with representatives across the department

Skills

  • Experience writing complex SQL queries in DB2 or Microsoft SQL and other scripting languages
  • Experience reading and understanding relational database Physical Data Model (PDMM)
  • Experience working on large-scale Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) projects
  • Knowledge and experience of ETL process and tools such as IBM DataStage, Informatica or Microsoft SSIS
  • Knowledge of Apache Hive or Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS)
  • Knowledge of Big Data or Data streaming tools such as JSON, Python, HQL
  • Experience in PySpark Data Framework
  • Knowledge and experience delivering and supporting data solutions
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve the complex data issues
  • Strong interpersonal, problem solving, analytical, planning, collaboration, motivation, and negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively, in both written and verbal formats with technical staff and management
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment while demonstrating initiative, integrity, ownership, and accountability
  • Ability to work effectively by organizing multiple workloads, and determining strategies to complete work on time
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, Team Foundation Server (TFS) and SharePoint)
  • Knowledge of Franchise Tax Board's Legacy tax systems and functions
