Job Description

Tarleton State University is a distinguished Doctoral National Comprehensive University, seeking a Software Applications Developer I in the Department of Center for Agribusiness. This role involves routine software development and support functions, contributing to agricultural analytics and reporting applications.


Responsibilities

  • Confers with clients to define application requirements. Identifies programming and output needs. Perform software development (including coding and testing), quality assurance testing and support of user acceptance
  • Verifies preliminary design and output and recommends technical and procedural design for new or revised applications including flow charts, system specifications, programming guidelines, and code review
  • Reviews, modifies, and writes program code and job control language
  • Writes documentation of system procedures and guidelines for application users as well as for programs and program modifications
  • Assists with testing complex programs, program modifications, or applications
  • Answers questions and provides technical assistance and training to application users. Resolves problems by reviewing and analyzing software documentation and production outputs to identify causes, solutions, and make appropriate referrals
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Four months related experience
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • Knowledge of intermediate troubleshooting, client relations, formulating and contributing ideas, and knowledge of the Information Technology Interface Library (ITIL)
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer network and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment system or water treatment system
  • Must qualify for USDA Security Clearance (USDA clearance contingent upon US citizenship or permanent residency status)
