- What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Ensure accurate coding of medical records based on ICD-9/ICD-10-CM diagnosis and CPT-4 coding conventions
- Enter charges into the billing system accurately under direct supervision
- Assign specified codes to medical diagnoses and code specific clinical procedures as needed
- Collaborate with surgical practices to ensure compliance with coding standards
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to EEO guidelines when handling sensitive information
- What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required
- Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician (CCS-P) is required
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience in production coding in a surgical setting or physician practice environment
- Knowledge of outpatient professional fee revenue cycle management is preferred
