Job SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Ecommerce Business Accountant to manage the day-to-day accounting operations of our rapidly growing ecommerce company. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in multi-state sales tax compliance, financial reporting, and ecommerce platform integrations (e.g., Shopify, Amazon, WooCommerce, etc.).Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily accounting functions including A/R, A/P, reconciliations, and general ledger entries

Manage monthly and quarterly financial closings and assist with year-end reporting

Handle sales tax nexus determination and compliance across multiple U.S. states

Prepare and file multi-state sales tax returns accurately and on time

Monitor changing state tax laws and ensure company compliance

Integrate and reconcile data from ecommerce platforms, payment processors, and inventory systems

Prepare internal financial reports and analysis to support decision-making

Collaborate with external tax consultants, auditors, and state tax authorities

Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis

Develop and implement improved accounting workflows and automation tools

Compliance tasks such as annual reports, business licenses, etc.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)

3–5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in ecommerce or retail

Proven knowledge of multi-state sales tax filing and nexus rules

Experience with ecommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Amazon FBA, BigCommerce) and accounting tools (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Avalara)

Strong understanding of inventory, COGS, and revenue recognition in an ecommerce context

Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and organizational ability

Ability to work independently and communicate complex financial issues clearly
