As Fractional CTO, you will provide strategic technical leadership and focus on building and modernizing the in-office dev team. With a budget, you will replace offshore engineering sources with local full-stack talent, accelerate product development, fix service issues, and support growth opportunities in student transportation and safety solutions. This is a part-time role with flexibility, reporting directly to the owner, emphasizing team-building, performance optimization, and innovation in a family-like environment.
- Responsibilities
- Lead recruitment and onboarding of in-office full-stack engineers, emphasizing cultural fit and excellence.
- Modernize workflows using tools to speed refactoring, reduce outages, improve app ratings, and enhance real-time tracking.
- Oversee architecture, security, and DevOps for key platforms.
- Mentor current dev team with impartiality, reducing stress on existing leaders.
- Collaborate with owner on strategic vision, ensuring growth aligns with privately owned, debt-free model.
- Qualifications
- Proven experience in leadership roles within technology-driven environments.
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience with relevant technologies.
- Background in, or strong understanding of, the education technology or transportation sectors is preferred.
- Proficiency in managing complex projects and leading teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to foresee and address potential issues proactively.
- Exceptional communication skills to effectively present ideas and influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Awareness of industry standards and best practices for data privacy and security.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid environment, balancing remote and in-office engagements as needed.
- Willingness to work onsite in Texas.
