Job Description
Sanborn Head is an engineering and technical consulting firm serving a broad array of private, public, and institutional clients. They are seeking a collaborative and motivated Geotechnical Engineer to support various project tasks, both in the office and in the field, offering opportunities for learning and professional growth.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with project team members, subconsultants/subcontractors, and clients
- Observe and document complex foundation and slope repair construction activities
- Collect, interpret, and analyze field and soil laboratory data
- Prepare geotechnical reports, design plans, cost estimates, specifications, and other deliverables
- Assist with project management tasks, including developing proposals, budgets and attending meetings
Skills
- Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering (geotechnical focus preferred)
- 0–3 years of relevant experience
- Successfully passed the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or able to take exam within 1 year of hire
- Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record
- Strong organizational and time management skills combined with flexibility to work with shifting priorities
- Strong attention to detail and technical understanding
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Work well as a team member, with a collaborative communication style
- Previous field subsurface evaluation field experience (i.e., soil boring and test pit observations)
