Role Description This is a fully remote position, excluding the 90-day probationary period from the date of hire. Upon satisfactory completion of the first 90 days, the dosimetrist will switch to a fully remote model. The dosimetrist must continue to demonstrate the ability to perform all job duties effectively when working remotely in order to remain in a fully remote model. β’ The dosimetrist must participate in remote teaching for all trainees in the department, including dosimetry students, physician residents, therapy students, and physics residents. β’ The dosimetrist must participate in and present at the educational seminars in the department. β’ The dosimetrist must present treatment plans in chart rounds for all UH locations and be part of a regular chart rounds schedule rotation. If unable to present remotely due to remote setup concerns, must commit to being available onsite for chart rounds on assigned days. β’ The dosimetrist will be part of the general treatment planning pool. β’ The dosimetrist must commit to a fixed schedule and be available during scheduled hours via the departmentβs preferred method of contact (instant messaging system). Fixed schedule must be within standard clinic hours. β’ The dosimetrist must participate in the development of documented policies and procedures as assigned by the chief dosimetrist or chief physicist, under the guidance of the clinical operations team. β’ The dosimetrist will be required to perform all standard dosimetry responsibilities, including: β’ Participate in the development of documented policies and procedures for dosimetry, under the guidance of the clinical operations team. β’ Design radiation treatment plans including 3D conformal, intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), volumetric modulated arc (VMAT), and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) to deliver precise radiation doses with optimal beam geometry. β’ Identify and contour normal and dose-limiting structures by utilizing images from one or more image sets. β’ Create and transfer reference images and localization marks for patient setup verification and treatment delivery. β’ Assist with patient simulation to determine optimal patient positioning for planning as needed, and verify machine and patient clearance. β’ Perform image fusions between different image sets per instruction and guidance from the physician and physicist. β’ Transfer images from the Radiology PACS system to the treatment planning or image processing system. β’ Perform secondary calculations to ensure accurate delivery of the prescribed radiation dose. β’ Document all pertinent information in various electronic systems including the record and verify system, and the electronic medical record (EMR) system, following department standards. Qualifications β’ Graduate of hospital or university affiliated formal dosimetry program (Required) or β’ Bachelor's Degree (Required) or β’ Bachelor's Degree in physical or biological science with 2 years dosimetry experience (Required) or β’ Bachelor's Degree in unrelated field with 4 years of dosimetry experience (Required) Requirements β’ Experience with Pinnacle, Mosaiq, MIM, Varian and Elekta linacs, as well as secondary dose calculation software such as RadCalc (Preferred) β’ Experience with record and verify systems such as Mosaiq or ARIA (Required) β’ Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) (Required) β’ Experience in using computers, remote access software, etc. (Required) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities β’ In-depth knowledge and understanding of current radiation therapy principles, methods, procedures, and planning techniques including 2D, 3D, IMRT, VMAT, and SBRT (Required proficiency) β’ Proficient in use of commercially available treatment planning systems (Required proficiency) β’ Knowledge of linear accelerators, simulator, and CT scanners (Required proficiency) Licenses and Certifications β’ Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) from the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board (MDCB) (Required) β’ Registered Technologist Radiography (ARRT-R) with on-the-job training for treatment planning equaling 2 years of dosimetry (Required) Physical Demands β’ Standing: Frequently β’ Walking: Frequently β’ Sitting: Rarely β’ Lifting: Frequently 50 lbs β’ Carrying: Frequently 50 lbs β’ Pushing: Frequently 50 lbs β’ Pulling: Frequently 50 lbs β’ Climbing: Occasionally 50 lbs β’ Balancing: Occasionally β’ Stooping: Frequently β’ Kneeling: Frequently β’ Crouching: Frequently β’ Crawling: Occasionally β’ Reaching: Frequently β’ Handling: Frequently β’ Grasping: Frequently β’ Feeling: Constantly β’ Talking: Constantly β’ Hearing: Constantly β’ Repetitive Motions: Constantly β’ Eye/Hand/Foot Coordination: Constantly Travel Requirements β’ 10% - 25%
