Job Description
Original Cream Puffs is seeking a Human Resources Assistant to support their HR Management and enhance the hiring and onboarding experience for staff. The HR Assistant will be responsible for maintaining staff records, managing onboarding communication, and fostering a welcoming workplace culture during the Wisconsin State Fair.
Responsibilities
- Drives staffing success by working to fully hire and train all staff in alignment with Original Cream Puff procedures
- Enhances the staff experience through clear onboarding communication delivered via email and orientation sessions
- Ensures data integrity and confidentiality by maintaining organized staff records (attendance, payroll, forms tracking)
- Effectively manages responsibilities both independently during Pre-Fair (with virtual team collaboration) and as a collaborative team member during the Fair
- Creates and champions a welcoming and inclusive workplace culture for all staff
- Thrives in a fast-paced, changing environment, while providing consistent support and guidance to staff
- Proactively communicates staff attendance and performance insights to HR, Production, and Customer Experience Management, contributing to staff growth and improvement
Skills
- Strong independent and team work, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Google Suite and able to perform essential computer-based tasks and occasionally assists with lifting up to 25 lbs
- Must be available during the 11 days of the Wisconsin State Fair (August 6th - August 16th, 2026) for a 8-9 hour shift between the hours of 5 AM and 1 AM
- High school diploma or GED required
- Relevant experience and/or coursework in HR or related field preferred
- A passion for food, events, and Wisconsin traditions is a plus!
