Job Description
Booz Allen Hamilton is looking for a Linux Systems Administrator to enhance the technology supporting the Navy. The role involves installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux servers, developing automation for routine tasks, and ensuring system performance and security in a mission-critical environment.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers in physical and virtual environments
- Develop and maintain automation for routine tasks
- Monitor system performance
- Implement security hardening
- Analyze problem areas and opportunities for improvement in a mission-critical environment
- Combine technical knowledge and communication skills to turn metrics into information and articulate their meaning
Skills
- 1+ years of experience as a Linux systems administrator
- Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining physical and virtual Linux servers, such as RHEL, CentOS, or Ubuntu
- Experience developing and maintaining scripts in Bash or Python to automate repetitive tasks, backups, and deployment
- Knowledge of monitoring system performance, including CPU, memory, or disk usage, using tools, such as Nagios or Zabbix to ensure maximum uptime
- Ability to obtain Secret clearance
- Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science or IT field
- RHCSA, RHCE, or CompTIA Linux+ Certification
- Experience with tools, such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, and VPNs
- Knowledge of implementing security measures, such as SELinux, firewalls, patching, and hardening to protect against threats and ensure compliance
