Market Research Specialist (Contract)

Overview

Hive+Co has a remote, contract opportunity with our client for a Market Research Specialist to support strategic research initiatives that inform product development, marketing strategy, pricing, and go-to-market planning. This role will deliver actionable insights on market trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics to help guide innovation within the education technology space.

The ideal candidate combines strong quantitative and qualitative research skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear insights for cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities of the Market Research Specialist

    Market & Competitive Research
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on market trends, customer segments, and emerging technologies in the education industry.
  • Gather and analyze competitive intelligence, industry reports, and secondary research to identify market opportunities.
  • Monitor and synthesize education product, consumer, and competitor trends.
    Customer Insights
  • Design and execute surveys, interviews, and focus groups to understand educator, student, and institutional needs.
  • Apply statistical methods to analyze complex datasets and uncover meaningful patterns and insights.
    Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Analyze internal and external datasets to generate actionable insights and dashboards.
  • Translate findings into clear reports and presentations for product and executive stakeholders.
  • Ensure data accuracy, documentation, and compliance with PII policies.
    Research Operations
  • Plan and execute research projects based on timelines and budget.
  • Collaborate with product, marketing, and analytics teams across the product lifecycle.
  • Manage relationships with external research vendors and partners.
    Required Qualifications of the Market Research Specialist
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Marketing, Business, Economics, Statistics, Education, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in market research, competitive intelligence, or strategic research
  • Experience designing and conducting surveys, interviews, and market studies
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative research and analytical skills
  • Familiarity with human-centered design or continuous discovery methods
  • Experience with research and analytics tools such as Qualtrics, Tableau, Power BI, SPSS, or similar
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver results in fast-paced environments
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Masterโ€™s degree in Marketing Research, Data Analytics, or MBA
  • Experience working within EdTech, SaaS, or the K-12 education market
  • Background supporting research for product strategy or product development teams

Pay: Up to $53.00 per hour
