Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our team in supporting KIPU/SUD Billing outpatient services. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding medical procedures and diagnoses, managing billing processes, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. This role is vital in maintaining the financial health of our practice while delivering quality care documentation. Prior experience with KIPU EMR/EHR system is highly preferred. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment, contributing to efficient billing operations and patient record accuracy.
- Duties
- Assign appropriate DRG, CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding to patient diagnoses and procedures
- Prepare and submit accurate medical claims for reimbursement using EMR/EHR systems
- Review medical records to ensure completeness and correctness of documentation for billing purposes
- Follow up on unpaid claims and coordinate with insurance companies for collections
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, payer policies, and healthcare regulations
- Assist in managing medical records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA standards
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation as needed for accurate coding
- Support the billing team in resolving discrepancies or denials related to claims or patient accounts
- Skills
- Proficiency in DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems
- Substance Abuse, UB-04 From, billing & coding
- Strong understanding of medical billing processes and medical collection procedures
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems and medical office software
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards
- Ability to interpret complex medical records accurately and efficiently
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure error-free billing submissions
- Familiarity with insurance claim procedures, payer requirements, and regulatory compliance standards
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with healthcare providers and insurance representatives
This position is essential for ensuring accurate financial operations within our outpatient PHP/IOP services while supporting high-quality patient care documentation.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $24.35 - $29.32 per hour
