Job Description
Kardium Inc. is a company focused on developing groundbreaking medical devices for the treatment of heart rhythm disorders. The Payroll & Benefits Administrator will support essential accounting functions, including payroll processing and benefits administration, while ensuring compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
- Accurately process bi-weekly payroll for employees across multiple jurisdictions (Canada, US, and future international operations) in a timely manner
- Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, and terminations
- Reconcile payroll and benefits and ensure that all related information is accurately recorded in general ledger, with costs assigned to the appropriate accounts and cost centres
- Maintain and update employee payroll and benefits data in the HRIS system
- Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and tax requirements in all operating regions
- Assist with payroll-related year-end tasks, including tax forms and reporting
- Monitor the payroll inbox and respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits in a professional and timely manner
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure accurate data flow and reporting
- Support audits and maintain proper documentation for compliance purposes
Skills
- 1-2 years of payroll & benefits administration experience in Canada and US employee base; experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or biotech environments strongly preferred
- Understanding of payroll & accounting concepts and best business practices
- Familiarity with payroll processing across multiple jurisdictions (Canada and US in particular)
- Experience working with sophisticated HRIS systems
- Knowledge of payroll regulations and tax requirements in Canada and the US
- Ability to deliver accurate, timely work with strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information
- Proficiency in MS Excel and payroll software
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills
- Payroll certification (e.g., PCP) or working towards certification is an asset
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, HR, or a related field (preferred)
