Job Description

Kardium Inc. is a company focused on developing groundbreaking medical devices for the treatment of heart rhythm disorders. The Payroll & Benefits Administrator will support essential accounting functions, including payroll processing and benefits administration, while ensuring compliance with regulations.


Responsibilities

  • Accurately process bi-weekly payroll for employees across multiple jurisdictions (Canada, US, and future international operations) in a timely manner
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, and terminations
  • Reconcile payroll and benefits and ensure that all related information is accurately recorded in general ledger, with costs assigned to the appropriate accounts and cost centres
  • Maintain and update employee payroll and benefits data in the HRIS system
  • Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and tax requirements in all operating regions
  • Assist with payroll-related year-end tasks, including tax forms and reporting
  • Monitor the payroll inbox and respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits in a professional and timely manner
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure accurate data flow and reporting
  • Support audits and maintain proper documentation for compliance purposes

Skills

  • 1-2 years of payroll & benefits administration experience in Canada and US employee base; experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or biotech environments strongly preferred
  • Understanding of payroll & accounting concepts and best business practices
  • Familiarity with payroll processing across multiple jurisdictions (Canada and US in particular)
  • Experience working with sophisticated HRIS systems
  • Knowledge of payroll regulations and tax requirements in Canada and the US
  • Ability to deliver accurate, timely work with strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and payroll software
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills
  • Payroll certification (e.g., PCP) or working towards certification is an asset
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, HR, or a related field (preferred)
