Job Summary
- Houston Skilled Consultancy is looking for a talented and experienced Remote Node.js API Developer with a strong focus on Microservices architecture to join our fast-growing global team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs, working with distributed systems, and deploying scalable backend services using Node.js. This is a fully remote role ideal for proactive professionals eager to build high-performance APIs in a cloud-first environment.Key Responsibilities

- Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure RESTful APIs using Node.js.

- Develop and maintain backend microservices that integrate with various third-party systems and internal services.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including frontend developers, DevOps engineers, and product managers to deliver high-quality solutions.

- Write clean, efficient, and testable code with proper documentation.
- *
- Monitor and optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.

- Troubleshoot and resolve API and server-side issues quickly and efficiently.

- Participate in code reviews, contribute to technical documentation, and share best practices within the team.

- Continuously research and apply new technologies, tools, and design patterns.
- Required Skills and Qualifications
- *
- Proficiency in Node.js and JavaScript (ES6+), with experience in building RESTful APIs and server-side applications.
- *
- Strong understanding and practical experience with Microservices architecture and API Gateway patterns.
- *
- Familiarity with Express.js, NestJS, or similar Node.js frameworks.
- *
- Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, or similar container orchestration tools is highly desirable.
- *
- Hands-on experience with NoSQL and SQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
- *
- Experience with authentication and authorization protocols such as OAuth2, JWT, etc.
- *
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (e.g., Git), and Agile/Scrum methodologies.

- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

- Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in backend development with Node.js.
- *
- Proven track record of delivering production-grade microservices-based applications.
- *
- Experience in a remote/distributed team environment is a plus.

- Must be available for occasional team meetings and sprint planning sessions.
