Job Description

We’re looking for a...
We’re looking for a sharp, dependable Account Manager who clients trust, junior bookkeepers enjoy working with, and the team can rely on to keep things moving.

This is for someone who wants real ownership, takes pride in doing excellent work, and reads this role description thinking, this sounds like me.

Does this sound familiar?
You are already the person people rely on.

You are the one catching things before they go wrong, answering questions, cleaning up loose ends, and helping keep deadlines from slipping. But even though everyone leans on you, you still do not have real authority to make decisions or real space to improve how things work.

You want to be part of a small team where your judgment matters. You want to be trusted with meaningful responsibility, not treated like someone who just completes tasks in the background.

The Position
This role is the main owner of client delivery inside the firm.

It is a mix of client account ownership, quality control, and team guidance, but the strongest part is keeping the whole client service side running smoothly.

Why you might love working with us
The right person will love this role because they will be trusted with real responsibility, and their judgment will actually matter.

We are a small, thoughtful company where people can help shape the way things are done instead of just following rigid processes someone else created years ago.

There is room to grow, room to improve systems, and room to make a meaningful contribution. If you care about doing thoughtful work, being part of a human team, and helping build something better, this will feel different from a typical bookkeeping job.

Job Duty
This role exists to keep client work moving accurately and on time across the firm, while making sure clients feel taken care of and junior bookkeepers feel supported.

They protect deadlines, quality, and the overall client experience.

Type of Position
Contractor

Position Hours
10 to 15 hours per week to start

Hours are flexible, but I need someone who is responsive during the workweek and available for team or client meetings when needed.

Position Pay
$30-$35 per hour

Perks of the Job
This role is fully remote, has flexible hours, and gives the right person real ownership over meaningful work.

The biggest perks for the right person are flexibility, trust, and the chance to help shape how the firm operates.

Benefits of working with us
Working here means being part of a small company where your work matters, your judgment is trusted, and your ideas are welcome.

You will have calm leadership, a caring environment, clear expectations, and the chance to grow while making a meaningful contribution.

Job ResponsibilitiesThis role is for someone who can truly own client delivery, not just complete bookkeeping tasks. In a great week, you might review 10 client accounts, answer bookkeeper questions, follow up on missing information, keep the inbox moving, catch errors before reports go out, and improve one process that was slowing the team down.
  • Own a portfolio of client accounts and keep each one moving accurately and on time
  • Review client books before delivery, making sure work is accurate, complete, and ready to go out
  • Manage day to day client communication, including questions, follow ups, missing information requests, reminders, and status updates
  • Keep the shared inbox organized and moving so client communication does not get delayed or dropped
  • Answer junior bookkeeper questions and provide steady support so work keeps moving without unnecessary bottlenecks
  • Correct bookkeeper work, explain mistakes clearly, and help junior team members improve their judgment and accuracy
  • Assign work across the bookkeeping team and keep an eye on deadlines, quality, and follow through
  • Step in early when something is off, whether that is a deadline risk, a quality issue, a communication gap, or a process problem
  • Lead quality control for month end, year end, cleanups, and final reviews before reports are sent
  • Set up new clients and help organize cleanup projects so accounts start with clarity and structure
  • Attend client and team meetings, support meeting preparation, and over time grow into a larger client facing role
  • Create and update SOPs, internal documentation, and training materials when you see recurring confusion or repeated mistakes
  • Look for inefficiencies in the way work flows through the firm and help improve systems so things run more smoothly
  • In addition to being a detailed person who follows systems + processes, just to prove that you’re detail oriented and can follow procedures, when you apply for this position, in the subject line of the email you must include: Teamwork.

Work Environment
We are a small remote team with regular check ins.

The people who do well here are organized, good at following through, comfortable working independently, and able to take ownership without constant direction.

    Requirements
  • Strong QuickBooks Online experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Solid review skills
  • Good judgment and the ability to manage accounts without constant help
  • Ability to review books, catch errors, and keep client work moving
  • Ability to follow up with clients clearly and professionally
  • Ability to support junior bookkeepers with day to day questions
  • Strong problem solving and follow through
  • Preferably some experience reviewing other people’s work or managing client accounts
  • Reliable computer
  • Stable internet
  • Quiet place for meetings
  • Comfortable using online tools and learning new systems
    Job Non Negotiables
  • Honesty
  • Responsiveness
  • Deadline ownership
  • Client care
  • Strong follow through

This is not the right role for someone who avoids communication, misses deadlines, needs too much hand holding, or acts like problems belong to someone else.

    Nice to Have
  • Experience creating SOPs
  • Experience training bookkeepers or other team members
  • Experience improving internal processes
  • A natural tendency to notice inefficiencies and want to make them better

Additional Details
We are a growing firm, and I would love this role to expand over time for the right person.
