Job Description

Overview

If you’re excited about building the mechanical systems behind intelligent humanoid robots, this internship gives you the opportunity to work directly on FloLabs’ next-generation robotics platform. Robotics Engineering Interns contribute to mechanical design, prototyping, testing, and integration activities that shape the structural backbone of our AGI-enabled robot.

You’ll collaborate with mechanical, software, and control engineers as part of the ASAP (Agile Systems Architecture Project), supporting subsystem design, evaluating prototypes, and refining assemblies for strength, precision, and manufacturability. This is an ideal role for someone who wants hands-on engineering experience in a real R&D setting where hardware, AI, and robotics come together.

    Key Responsibilities
  • Design and iterate mechanical components using CAD, contributing to joints, linkages, and structural assemblies.
  • Perform mechanical evaluations, running tests to assess durability, tolerances, alignment, and subsystem performance.
  • Support integration of mechanical systems with electronics, actuators, and control modules, collaborating across engineering disciplines.
  • Document design progress, including drawings, test outcomes, component specs, and revision notes.
  • Experiment with AI-powered engineering tools, testing options for design automation, simulation, and workflow enhancement.
  • Participate in technical reviews and brainstorming, proposing ideas for improved mechanisms, materials, or system architecture.
    Qualifications & Skills
  • Familiarity with mechanical engineering fundamentals, robotics concepts, or mechatronic systems is a plus.
  • Experience using CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Exposure to prototyping, actuators, sensors, or motion systems is a plus.
  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to technical detail.
  • Ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Interest in robotics, AGI development, and AI-assisted design tools.
    Why Join Us
  • Fully remote & flexible schedule. Work from anywhere, either full time (up to 40 hours per week) or part time (minimum 8–10 hours per week).
  • Hands-on, impactful work. Contribute to the mechanical development and prototyping of humanoid robotic systems used in real R&D environments.
  • Career-advancing experience. Build skills in robotics engineering, CAD modeling, prototyping, and hardware–software integration.
  • Mentorship & learning. Collaborate with experienced engineers, robotics researchers, and product developers.
  • Growth pathways. Eligibility for our Earn & Learn program after successful completion of the internship.

We actively collaborate with universities to offer college credit for this internship. Once you express interest and are selected, we will work with your institution to facilitate the process of obtaining credit for your participation, pending university approval.
