We’re looking for a hands-on Backend Engineer with strong experience in Laravel, system integrations, API design, and database architecture. You’ll own the backend layer, build robust integrations with external services, and design scalable data models to support our product and analytics needs.
You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, contributing to architectural decisions, writing clean and maintainable code.
- Key Responsibilities
- Backend development (Laravel)
- Design, implement, test, and optimize robust Laravel-based services and APIs.
- Build secure, scalable REST/GraphQL endpoints and microservice patterns where appropriate.
- Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of backend systems on AWS.
- Integrations & connectivity
- Architect and implement integrations with external/Internal systems (SaaS, data feeds, webhooks, queues).
- Develop API adapters, connectors, and orchestration logic; manage retries and idempotency.
- Handle data synchronization, transformation, and error handling across systems.
- Database architecture & data modeling
- Design scalable data models and storage strategies (PostgreSQL).
- Optimize queries, indexing, and data access patterns for performance and cost.
- Support data migration, lineage, governance, and security best practices.
- Security, compliance & reliability
- Implement authentication/authorization, encryption, and secure API design.
- Implement logging, monitoring, tracing, and alerting; enforce best practices for data protection.
- Quality & efficiency
- Write comprehensive unit/integration tests; participate in CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, CodePipeline, etc.).
- Identify technical debt and drive refactoring and performance improvements.
- Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience in full stack or web/mobile development.
- Strong proficiency in React.js, Next.js, Laravel, PHP, and Flutter.
- Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs and working with relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL).
- Strong understanding of UI/UX principles, responsive design, and mobile-first development.
- Familiarity with state management tools (Redux, Provider, Riverpod, etc.) in both React and Flutter.
- Experience with version control (Git/GitHub) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a remote, agile startup environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of backend development experience, with Laravel in production.
- Strong experience building integrations with external systems and data sources.
- Experience designing multi-tenant SaaS systems
- Database expertise (SQL: MySQL/PostgreSQL; NoSQL as relevant); data modeling, indexing, optimization.
- API design experience (REST; GraphQL is a plus); familiarity with asynchronous messaging (e.g., AWS SQS/SNS, Kafka).
- Experience on AWS (Lambda, ECS/EKS, RDS/Aurora, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, Secrets Manager).
- Proficiency with frontend integration considerations (React) and API contracts.
- Familiarity with CI/CD, IaC (e.g., Terraform, AWS CloudFormation), and containerization (Docker).
- Security best practices, data governance, and compliance awareness.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
