Caltrans is dedicated to improving lives and communities through transportation. The Transportation Engineer (Civil) will perform a variety of professional engineering tasks on highway construction projects, ensuring compliance with contract documents and may act as an Assistant Structure Representative.
Responsibilities
- Perform a wide variety of professional engineering work in either an office or field setting
- Ensure contractors build structures in compliance with the contract documents (Standard Plans, Standard Specifications, contract plans and Special Provisions)
- May act as an Assistant Structure Representative or Assistant Resident Engineer/Resident Engineer on construction projects
Skills
- Possession and maintenance of a valid professional engineer's license in the State of California is highly desirable
- Current version of the State Examination/Employment Application STD Form 678 (when not applying electronically), or the Electronic State Employment Application through your Applicant Account at www.CalCareers.ca.gov
- All Experience and Education relating to the Minimum Qualifications listed on the Classification Specification should be included to demonstrate how you meet the Minimum Qualifications for the position
- Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required. SOQ must be limited to 1 page and must provide detailed responses that incorporate the question
